Wayzgoose Magazine is an arts and culture magazine based in the North-East of England. Ever since we started in those bleak, claustrophobic days of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we have tried to publish only the best of what today’s students are getting up to: be that painting, poetry, sculpture, photography, fiction or just good old-fashioned, long-read journalism.
There are so many student art magazines these days. They’re all bold in their mission statements. They claim to be at the vanguard of creativity, that they’re some sort of avant-garde militia formed of poets and lovers who are changing the world with their ground-breaking, breath-taking, unprecedented art. All their painters are the next Picassos, and all their poets are making the literary establishment tremble with equal parts fear and anticipation. They would have you know that they’re the future and they’re coming for you. But there’s so many of them. Surely they can’t all be the future? And, if they are, what a terrible future that would be, one consisting of magazines who make grand, arrogant statements of their own precocity, without featuring nearly enough good quality content to justify their claims.
But, who are we to judge?
We are Wayzgoose Magazine and we don’t deal in arrogance. Instead, our simple mission is to consistently publish good quality art and writing which, we hope, will make you pause, if just for a moment, and think about something you might not otherwise have thought about. Really, we have no airs and graces. We love art. We love writing. And we really fucking love Wayzgoose.
